Save the Astoria / 2007 / The Astoria was one of London's oldest and most popular music venues. In 2006, news spread that the venue would be redeveloped into a shopping arcade after being sold to property developers, subsequently triggering off the 'Save the Astoria' campaign. However, it wasn't the property developers that threatened the Astoria, but the proposition of a new rail system. Unfortunately, the venue could not be saved. The Astoria played host to its last gig in January 2009.
